Welcome everyone who shares our DNA – whether it be Burchmore, Harrower, Hutton/Taylor or Raine –
Once again we celebrate our heritage (see Burchmore.net). Today is the 166th anniversary of the 1852 arrival of the clipper “Euphrates” with immigrants William Burchmore and Emma Taylor aboard. They pledged their troth eleven days later at St. James Church, then on King Street, Sydney. For history buffs see link to history of Sydney Wiki.
First and foremost we refer you to our family trees so diligently researched and updated (see Row End Farm) by Terence A Walsh and Edgar M. Baltins. These ancestries are the most vital reference of the site, so be sure that your younger family members are made aware of their roots.
Sadly, we must record the loss of these dear ones:
-Elaine Alice (Burchmore, Ingram) King who died at Kootingal, NSW, aged 95 Elaine, a first cousin, was the daughter of Nellie (Burchmore) and Alec Ingram and sister to Ray and John Ingram.
-Yvonne Estelle (Stewart) Burchmore, our dear sister in law, died at Brighton, VIC aged 86. Yvonne is pictured here with her husband, John Robert Burchmore who pre deceased her after 52 years of marriage. Their elder daughter Michelle Baltins had died in 2016
-Joan Eileen (Harrower) Bowie at Kogarah died aged 89 – a first cousin on our maternal side, remembered as our next door neighbour along with her brothers Bill and Jack (click here to see Harrower Compound) and firm friend for her lifetime.
On 22 January 2018 Jean (Hutton, Taylor) Watts turned an amazing 104 and she is celebrated along with our SURVIVING COUSINS (click here to see revised list).
This year’s young achiever is John Taylor Burchmore 27 – our Webmaster, shown below as a rower, car buff, and marathoner. Taylor is a Mechanical Engineer working for a multi-national chemical company.
IN CONCLUSION let’s all help to expand these archives with personalized family history. We would welcome your contributions however small of any family stories, tributes or photographs that you are happy to share. We are also open to trying to answer whatever queries you may have.
Most importantly, we want to reach all of our relatives, but we do need their contact details. In fact, why not return a few extra email addresses RIGHT NOW?
Fraternally,
Ken and Noel
